Sugar Hiccup
We’ve also gotten word that the ethereal “dream pop” quartet Sugar Hiccup is staging a return to the scene and plans to record a third album. That is, once they hire a new singer to replace original voice Melody del Mundo, who has moved to the US. Sugar Hiccup was one of the most original sounding local bands of the late 90’s, with a sound that merged rock with soaring wordless vocals that reminded us of Enya and the Cocteau Twins.
The band released two albums with BMG Records, “Oracle,” and “Womb.”
Posting on the “Musicians Wanted” section of the PhilMusic Message Forum (talk@philmusic), a post from original members Czandro Pollack (guitar) and Russel Dacasin (bass) made just this month revealed that the band is now auditioning female vocalists to fill in Melody’s slot, in anticipation of new gigs and a third album.
The qualifications they listed are quite interesting:
Qualifications:
1. She should know Sugar Hiccup Music(From Ethereal to Heavy, From upbeat to downer music)
2. She must be Creative and Open Minded
3. She can sing high pitch note and can do vocal fireworks
4. No relationship hang ups or if possible no BOYFRIEND or not into a relationship at the moment
5.She can sing at the same time play guitar (ELECTRIC GUITAR)
6. Knows how to operate, setup and mix her ELECTRIC GUITAR GADGETS
7. At least must have her own ELECTRIC GUITAR
8. Willing to practice with the band (NO COMPLAINTS) in wee hours
9. Willing to do GIGS even in wee hours (NO COMPLAINTS SUCH AS PAPAGALITAN AKO NG NANAY OR TATAY OR BOYFRIEND KO - shit stuff like that)
10. The age at least in middle 20’s and must be college graduate already.
11. The most important thing of all - must be HUMBLE and no ROCKS STAR ATTITUDE
12. We are more inclined to prefer new female artist than that of veteran and seasoned artist.
